With active monsoon conditions bringing light to moderate rainfall across central, eastern, and southern Bangladesh, farmers are advised to maintain efficient drainage in transplanted Aman paddy fields to avoid standing water submergence. Continuous cloud cover and high humidity create favorable conditions for fungal diseases such as blast in rice and damping-off in vegetable nurseries. Application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides should be suspended immediately prior to expected rainfall events. Harvesting of matured vegetables and seasonal fruits should be completed during clear intervals and stored in safe, dry locations.

River Discharge & Flood Outlook

With moderate rainfall forecast over the next 3 to 4 days (up to 9 mm daily), water levels in major river basins are expected to remain stable, with low risk of immediate riverine flooding. However, low-lying agricultural zones in the northeastern haor regions and coastal belts should remain vigilant against localized waterlogging. Farmers in these areas are advised to maintain functional drainage channels to prevent water accumulation in vegetable beds and newly transplanted Aman fields.

The 7-day forecast indicates active precipitation during the first half of the week (accumulating up to 20 mm over four days) followed by a distinct dry spell. Soil moisture levels are currently near saturation due to the 96% relative humidity and recent rains. Farmers should suspend supplemental irrigation during the initial wet phase but prepare for scheduled irrigation towards the end of the week as dry, sunny conditions set in and temperatures rise.
